Library Donation Policy
Church Media Library Selection and Donation Policy
Updated July 13, 2009
In order that all materials secured for our Church Library to be of the highest quality and of the greatest benefit to our leaders and members, these guidelines will be followed:
1. All Materials for the Media Library will be approved by Members of the Church Media Library Staff.
2. All materials should be accurate in facts, scriptural interpretation and doctrine; and will be compatible with the Baptist Faith and Message.
3. All material related to denominational groups and other religions should be objective in content and considered as reference material.
4. All materials should be constructive in influence and morally sound.
5. All materials should reflect Christian standards of conduct and should be free of non-Christian attitudes and actions.
6. All materials should be of good literary and technical quality and free of defacement.
7. All educational materials should include and reflect sound methods and should aid in learning.
8. Books for children and youth should build character, teach Christianity, be instructive about the world or promote reading by being delightful. Books for children will be read by one of the Medial Library Staff for approval prior to being placed in the collection.
9. Gifts to the Medial Library are encouraged. If the gift is monetary, the giver and the media staff should determine the specific item to be purchased. All gifts to the Media Library must meet the same standards as purchased items. No provisional gifts will be accepted.
10. Any media donated to the Library will be reviewed for acceptable content and standards. We ask that any media left for donation in the library be accompanied by name and phone number of donator and indicate if any unusable media should be returned or further donated to another institution such as Mary Martha Thrift Store.
11. We host a Memorial Program whereby you may place media in the Church Library in honor or memory of a friend or loved one either living or deceased. Please contact the Librarian or Assistant Librarian for this program.
