Leadership Team

Senior Pastor - Jim Wheeler

Pastor Wheeler began his time in ministry, believe it or not, being called to pastor a small country church at the age of 16 years old. The calling on his life was confirmed by God during this process as the Holy Spirit added to the number daily those who were being saved, as this church was transformed from a body of 12 to well over 120 in a short period of time.

Pastor Jim then went from Bethel to Henderson, Kentucky, then to Ferguson. He spent some years at Harvester (which is where you may have recognized his name from), then to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then some time spent studying churches while working in the secular field. After a brief interim time in Warrenton, he is home. And our church is thankful to God for choosing him to be our senior pastor.

Associate Pastor of Worship & Evangelism - Josh Moore

Josh was born and raised in Warrensburg, Missouri. Josh received Christ into his heart in the seventh grade and answered God's call to full time ministry while he was attending high school. Josh graduated from Hannibal LaGrange College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and has interned at First Baptist Church of Warrensburg, Missouri, and was previously the Pastor of Worship and Arts at Central Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois. In December of 2004, Josh prayed for an opportunity to be a part of a church in a community that was experiencing change and a church that was truly seeking to reach the changing culture and community around them. God then answered Josh's prayer, and Josh followed God's leadership for him and his family to First Baptist Church of Lake Saint Louis.

Associate Pastor of Youth - Tom Papez

Like most people, Tom was born wet and upside-down but later devoted his life to living right side up after his acceptance of Jesus Christ during his junior year in High School. While playing collegiate football at Central Missouri State and earning a double major in English and Social Studies, Tom served as President of the Fellowship of Christian Athlete chapter. Tom taught and coached high school in Knob Noster, Missouri and served as Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church of Windsor prior to moving to Wentzville in June of 2001. He is currently serving Christ in a multi-faceted role including teaching high school at Wentzville Timberland, serving as a football and track coach at Wentzville Timberland, and youth-pastoring at First Baptist Church of Lake St. Louis.

Director of Children's Ministry & Education - Heather Reed

Heather committed her life to Christ in 1983 and then re-committed by being baptized a second time on March 30, 2003, shortly after joining First Baptist Church of Lake St. Louis. She is an active member of the church and supports its mission of connecting people to God and to each other for spiritual growth and service. She has a passion for children, their parents and teachers, and believes that God has prepared her for this role in the church by giving her many opportunities to be a resource for those three groups in her professional life thus far. Heather graduated from Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO with a Bachelor of Science, Secondary Education.
